The Heart of Alabama Food Bank (HAFB) hosted our first Day of Giving on Thursday, March 28, 2024, in partnership with restaurants across our direct service area (Autauga, Bullock, Butler, Chilton, Coosa, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes, Macon, Montgomery, Pike, and Tallapoosa County). The participating restaurants donated a percentage of their sales during the Day of Giving to the Heart of Alabama Food Bank. The Day of Giving on March 28 concluded Child Hunger Month here at HAFB. Each campaign was designated in March to fund the child hunger programs we operate at HAFB. 1 in 5 children faces hunger in Alabama. With the summer months approaching, there are increased financial strains on families to provide nourishment for their children.
HAFB thanks all our generous restaurants and communities who joined us on our Day of Giving. Every restaurant owner, team member, and individual who dined at a participating restaurant helped to ensure that no children in our communities go to bed hungry. The collective efforts of our community members to join us in our fight against hunger is what makes a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need. Thank you for Feeding Hope by Fighting Hunger.
